Kevin Kay, Fine Art Photographer
Images gathered over the past 20 – 35 years find their place within a narrative of now. His work explores the mixing of time, creating constructions in which chronology dissolves and meaning remains fluid. Individual works stand alone yet continually transform through their relationship to one another.
While traveling the world’s global destinations developing his brand, Forbidden City® Switzerland, Kevin Kay has continued his exploration in fine art photography. Kay’s photography draws on a richly creative career path, from his apprenticeship with celebrity Hollywood portrait photographer Martin S. Martin, to his interior design work in New York, and his initiation as a fashion insider in Paris. No matter what the subject – people, architecture, nature, the streets – Kay is always on the move, navigating the world in search of “The Now” – extraordinary travel moments elevated into signature modern art by his images.
“All my work is the edit,” he says, underscoring the rigorous judgment that goes into choosing every shot, bringing it as close as possible to a classic presence, then selecting from a multiplicity of materials to set each work into its rightful place in the Art of Now. Kay’s experimentalism offers a panoramic overview of contemporary creativity. For him, exploration is essential: creating new ways to work with conventional materials.
